Shift: 1st Shift | Monday/Friday | 5:00 AM 1:00 PM CST | Occasional Saturdays & OT

Position Overview

HireNow Staffing is actively seeking a seasoned Tool Maker A with a strong background in manual machining to join a high-performing manufacturing team in Franklin Park. If you're confident running mills and lathes, interpreting complex blueprints, and fine-tuning tools with precision, this role offers the stability, challenge, and compensation you're looking for.

This is not an entry-level position this is an opportunity for a true craftsman ready to contribute from day one in a hands-on environment.

What You'll Do

• Interpret engineering drawings and plan complex machining projects from scratch

• Operate manual mills and lathes for cutting boring, facing, and threading operations

• Utilize calipers, micrometers, comparators, and other precision measuring tools to confirm tight tolerances

• Machine components for jigs, fixtures, and specialized tooling to support production

• Troubleshoot tooling issues and perform tool tryouts to ensure readiness for the floor

• Collaborate with engineering and production teams on design refinements and process improvements

• Work with EDM and CNC machinery as needed

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace

You're a Great Fit If You Have:

4+ years of hands-on experience in manual machining
Strong working knowledge of manual mills (facing, boring, drilling, tapping)
Proficiency with manual lathes (turning, boring, threading)
Familiarity with optical comparators and height gauges
Strong blueprint reading and applied math skills (especially trigonometry)
High attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
A high school diploma or equivalent
Ability to pass a written and physical Tool Maker A test

What Sets You Apart (Nice-to-Haves):

• Prior CNC and EDM programming/operation

• Ability to troubleshoot tool performance and recommend design changes

• Comfortable mentoring junior machinists

• Familiar with CAD drawings or CAM software
