What You'll Be Doing
You'll work in one or more of the following specialized areas based on your expertise:
1. Electrical Design & Field Study Engineering

Conduct in-depth design studies related to:

Substation grounding & AC interference
-
EMF assessments & insulation coordination
-
Power quality diagnostics & transient simulations
-
Large motor starting & overvoltage mitigation
-

Tools frequently used: CDEGS, WinIGS, ATPEMTP, PSCAD
2. Protection & Controls Engineering
-
Analyze short circuits, relay coordination, and arc flash hazards
-
Create and validate relay settings across various platforms
-
Lead or support SCADA integration and NERC reliability studies
-
Tools include ASPEN OneLiner, SEL AcSELerator, CAPE, ETAP, GE Enervista
3. System Planning & Operations Studies
-
Perform load flow, contingency analysis, and dynamic system modeling
-
Conduct voltage stability and interconnection assessments
-
Provide insights into regulatory compliance (e.g., NERC standards)
-
Tools: PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, and Python for scripting/modeling automation
Ideal Candidate Profile
You are someone who:

Has deep consulting or in-house utility engineering experience

Is comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment

Possesses excellent documentation and analytical skills

Communicates clearly with both clients and internal teams

Must-Have Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (BSEE)

Minimum of 5 years direct U.S.-based experience in power systems engineering (utilities, EPC firms, or consulting)
