HireNow Staffing is actively recruiting an experienced Florida OneWater Civil & Environmental Engineering Project Lead for one of our valued client partners in Sarasota, Florida.
This is an urgent, high-impact direct-hire opportunity for a Florida-experienced Civil or Environmental Engineer ready to take on significant technical, project, client, and operational responsibility. The selected engineer will work directly with the firm's President and help provide leadership coverage for critical projects and client relationships.
The position offers substantial advancement potential into Technical Lead, Project Manager, and/or Client Services Manager responsibilities across water and wastewater engineering, OneWater solutions, pilot studies, modeling, design-build, asset management, digital technology, and engineering services during construction.
The firm is specifically seeking a self-directed Florida engineering professional who can operate with a high level of independence, lead technical work, manage projects and staff, and become a trusted extension of senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with the President on key technical, operational, project, and client-growth initiatives.
  • Prepare and/or oversee engineering calculations, technical assessments, studies, master plans, models, construction drawings, specifications, permit applications, and reports.
  • Lead or support OneWater, water/wastewater, water resources, and environmental engineering initiatives.
  • Serve as Project Manager or Technical Lead based on project size, complexity, and expertise.
  • Lead pilot studies, technical reports, GIS/CADD/modeling activities, and engineering services during construction.
  • Support AutoCAD 3D design and development of engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate project schedules, budgets, cost evaluations, deliverables, and technical resources.
  • Oversee and provide technical direction to engineers, CADD designers, and other support professionals.
  • Support proposals, presentations, client development, and business-development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subconsultants, vendors, regulatory stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Research emerging engineering technologies, regulatory requirements, design approaches, and innovative project-delivery methods.
  • Participate in stakeholder outreach and client meetings.
  • Support internal operations and help maintain continuity when senior leadership is unavailable.
  • Travel occasionally throughout Southwest and West Central Florida for project sites, pilot studies, and client meetings.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Target experience level of approximately 8–15 years is strongly desired for the scope of this opportunity.
  • Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain Florida PE licensure within four months.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering practices and project execution within Florida.
  • Previous project-management experience.
  • Ability to independently manage technical assignments and project responsibilities.
  • Experience overseeing or directing engineers, CADD designers, or technical support personnel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
  • Ability to travel occasionally throughout Southwest and West Central Florida.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder).
  • Must successfully complete required pre-employment background screening and drug testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8–15 years of progressive Civil or Environmental Engineering experience.
  • Current Florida PE license.
  • Established professional experience within the Florida engineering market.
  • Water/wastewater, water resources, OneWater, or related infrastructure experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 3D.
  • GIS and CADD experience.
  • Hydraulic or engineering modeling experience.
  • Database-management experience.
  • Pilot-study planning and execution experience.
  • Design-build project experience.
  • Asset-management or digital engineering experience.
  • Engineering services during construction or CEI experience.
  • Master's degree emphasizing water/wastewater, water resources, or site development.
  • Strong client-management and business-development capabilities.
  • Experience developing proposals, presentations, project budgets, and schedules.
HireNow Package
Salary Range: $100,000–$135,000 annually
