HireNow Staffing is acting as a direct placement partner for this Precision Machinist Operator opportunity.
Position Summary
HireNow Staffing is actively recruiting a seasoned, highly skilled Precision Machinist Operator to join one of our valued client partners in La Vista, Nebraska. This role requires an experienced machinist who can independently set up, adjust, and operate both CNC and conventional equipment in a precision-driven manufacturing environment.
This is not an entry-level machining position. Only candidates with proven hands-on setup experience, strong blueprint interpretation skills, and stable employment history will be considered. Candidates with inconsistent job tenure or frequent short-term roles will not advance to interview.
Core Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation

Independently set up CNC mills, lathes, and conventional machines for short-run and production work.

Install and align fixtures, vises, tooling, and specialty attachments.

Calculate speeds, feeds, offsets, and tooling paths based on material and tolerance requirements.

Edit CNC programs at the machine to optimize part quality and cycle efficiency.
Precision & Quality Control

Machine components to tight tolerances using blueprint specifications.
-
Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.

Conduct trial runs to confirm proper setup prior to full production.

Identify and correct dimensional deviations before parts move downstream.
Technical Problem Solving

Diagnose machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, misalignment, or dimensional drift.

Modify setups or tooling strategies to maintain part integrity.

Build and modify fixtures to improve repeatability and accuracy.

Communicate design inconsistencies or manufacturability concerns to engineering or production teams.
Safety & Shop Discipline

Follow structured safety protocols and maintain organized workstations.
-
Contribute to 5S initiatives and quality-driven practices.

Maintain personal tooling and ensure calibration standards are met.
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
Candidates must meet all of the following requirements to be considered:

Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology, completion of a machining apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Minimum of 4+ years of job shop or precision machining experience.

Demonstrated experience setting up and operating both CNC and manual mills and lathes.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T symbols, and technical drawings without supervision.

Strong mathematical ability including geometry, trigonometry, and ratio calculations.

Proven ability to hold tight tolerances consistently.
-
Experience performing single-point threading and precision tool adjustments.

Stable employment history with demonstrated tenure and progression.
-
Ability to work fully onsite in La Vista, Nebraska.

Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Valued)
While not mandatory, the following experience will significantly strengthen candidacy:

Advanced CNC program editing capability.

Experience machining complex or custom components.

Exposure to multi-axis machining environments.

Experience building custom fixtures for repeat production.

Background in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing settings.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement processes.
