Compensation: $165,000 – $190,000 base salary

The Opportunity
HireNow Staffing is partnering with an Am Law 200 firm to recruit a seasoned and skilled Labor & Employment Associate to join its California-based employment practice.
This role is well suited for attorneys who want substantive responsibility, exposure to complex employment litigation, and the opportunity to advise employers on real-world workforce challenges. The practice balances litigation with counseling work, offering associates a broad and engaging mix of matters across multiple industries.
Only candidates with 3–6 years of Labor & Employment experience and active California bar admission will be considered.
Role Overview
As a Labor & Employment Associate, you will handle a wide range of employment matters, from individual claims to high-stakes class and representative actions. You will work closely with partners and clients, contributing meaningfully to case strategy while also providing practical guidance to employers on compliance and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform the following to be considered for interview:
  • Handle single-plaintiff employment litigation, including claims involving:
    • Discrimination
    • Harassment
    • Retaliation
    • Wrongful termination
  • Support and litigate class action and PAGA matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and substantive legal memoranda
  • Manage all phases of discovery, including written discovery and document production
  • Prepare and argue motions and assist with overall case strategy
  • Take and defend depositions with increasing responsibility
  • Participate in administrative hearings and related proceedings
  • Advise employers on day-to-day employment issues and compliance matters
  • Draft and update workplace policies, handbooks, and employment-related documentation
  • Conduct employee and management training sessions
  • Collaborate closely with partners, colleagues, and clients across offices
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet all of the following to be considered:
  • 3–6 years of Labor & Employment experience (ONLY)
  • Active California Bar membership in good standing
  • Hands-on litigation experience, including pleadings, discovery, and motion practice
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Emphasized)
Candidates with the following experience will receive priority consideration:
  • Experience taking and defending depositions
  • Exposure to class action or PAGA litigation
  • Participation in administrative hearings
  • Background advising employers in complex or regulated environments
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and judgment
