HireNow Staffing is partnering with a healthcare AI software startup to recruit a Founding Sales Engineer for its early go-to-market team. This is a critical first hire in sales engineering and a highly visible founding role, ideal for a technical leader who thrives in customer-facing environments and wants to shape how a product is sold, demonstrated, and understood in the market.
This role is not supportive or secondary. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to own technical discovery, build compelling demos, and translate complex AI capabilities into real-world healthcare value to be considered for interview.
The Opportunity
As the first dedicated Sales Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of sales, product, and engineering, acting as the technical backbone of the commercial motion. You will help define how prospects experience the platform—from first demo to technical validation—while also influencing product direction through direct customer feedback.
This role is well suited for a hands-on builder who enjoys creating from scratch, operating without rigid playbooks, and working closely with founders in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment.
What You'll Do
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform the following responsibilities to be considered:
  • Lead technical discovery, solution scoping, and architecture discussions with prospects and customers
  • Build and deliver custom demos that showcase AI capabilities and practical healthcare use cases
  • Partner closely with Account Executives on deal strategy, proposals, and technical validation
  • Translate complex AI, data, and backend concepts into clear, compelling customer value
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to relay customer insights and influence roadmap priorities
  • Create sales and technical enablement materials from the ground up, including:
    • Demo environments and assets
    • Architecture diagrams
    • Technical documentation and FAQs
  • Develop internal and external enablement to support scalable sales execution
  • Operate effectively in a 0–1 environment, establishing processes where none exist
Technical Environment
  • Python (backend)
  • AI / ML tools and workflows
  • UI design and rapid prototyping for demo development
  • Cloud-based SaaS architectures (experience implied)
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet all of the following to be considered:
  • 5+ years of customer-facing technical experience, including 2+ years in pre-sales or solutions engineering
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with Python backend knowledge
  • Proven experience leading customized technical demos in a B2B SaaS environment
  • High comfort in deeply customer-facing roles, including live demos and technical Q&A
  • Strong collaboration skills across sales, product, and engineering
  • Ability to work onsite in San Francisco four days per week

  • Experience at AI-driven B2B SaaS startups
  • Previous founding or early-stage Sales Engineer experience
  • Background in healthcare, data platforms, or regulated industries
  • Demonstrated ability to build sales enablement and demo infrastructure from scratch
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
