Position Overview
The Hearing Representative will manage a caseload of workers compensation lien files and represent clients during proceedings before the California Workers Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB). • Analyze medical documentation and rate permanent disability using the AMA Guides
  • Review and assess medical records to determine apportionment of disability across contributing causes

  • Advocate on behalf of employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators during medical lien hearings
  • Conduct negotiations with lien claimants to resolve disputes where appropriate
  • Prepare legal documentation including settlement agreements, declarations, and written position statements
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients by providing case updates, summaries, and strategic recommendations
  • Manage high-volume caseloads within a fully digital case management environment

  • Experience handling medical liens, not solely copy service liens
  • Strong proficiency rating permanent disability using the AMA Guides
  • Experience reviewing medical records and determining apportionment
  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume lien caseload
  • Experience drafting legal documents such as settlement agreements, declarations, and written position statements
  • Comfort operating within a paperless legal environment
  • Stable employment history with no pattern of job hopping
Candidates who have not personally appeared before a WCAB judge or who have only handled administrative negotiations will not be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are highly desirable:
  • Experience working within a California workers compensation defense firm
  • Experience working for insurance carriers or third-party administrators (TPAs)
  • Experience handling complex medical lien litigation matters
