Role Overview
This position combines emergency nursing leadership with operational oversight in a freestanding emergency care setting. Anticipated responsibilities include:
  • Lead nursing operations and support safe, timely emergency care.
  • Develop staff, communicate expectations, and promote accountability.
  • Coordinate with the ACNO and hospital leadership on operational priorities.
  • Monitor staffing, patient flow, care quality, and department performance.
  • Support collaboration between emergency providers, nurses, and supporting hospital teams.
  • Oversee nursing workflows involving point-of-care laboratory testing.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, staff readiness, and patient experience.
Practice Environment
  • The position supports two hospitals.
  • Reported patient volumes vary, with approximately 53 visits per day in some settings and a reported high of 65.
  • Nurses perform point-of-care laboratory testing; no in-house laboratory is listed for the freestanding setting.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • At least three years of emergency services experience.
  • At least three years of leadership experience.
  • Current South Carolina RN license or an applicable multistate compact RN license permitting practice in South Carolina.
  • ACLS certification.
  • PALS or ENPC.
  • BLS and TNCC, as listed in the requisition; completion timing to be confirmed.
  • Emergency department director experience, with consideration available for a strong manager meeting the employer's stated alternative criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Freestanding emergency department leadership experience.
  • For manager-level candidates: strong employment tenure and leadership experience in a large acute care facility.
