Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the China EHS Manager in implementing the project EHS management system in accordance with Malaysian DOSH, CIDB, FMA, and other regulatory standards. Lead local compliance implementation and identify gaps in local safety compliance.
  • Oversee the entire site safety management process in accordance with Malaysian construction safety regulations, including localized safety planning, site induction training, routine inspections, risk assessments, and accident prevention, ensuring all construction activities comply with local statutory safety requirements.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections to identify and correct unsafe acts, non-compliant work practices, and deficiencies against local standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with Malaysian DOSH, CIDB, FMA, and other applicable safety regulations by working closely with the local EHS team to manage project compliance risks.
  • Serve as the primary local EHS liaison with clients, PMC, third-party auditors, and government authorities. 
  • Participate in safety inspections, compliance audits, and management system reviews, proactively rectify findings, coordinate inspections, respond to audit inquiries, submit compliance documentation, and ensure successful audit outcomes.
  • Follow up on corrective actions arising from local inspections and regulatory audits, maintain complete compliance records.
  • Review unsafe acts, safety hazards, and near-miss incidents, organize regular safety case reviews and lessons-learned training sessions, strengthen employees' awareness of local safety compliance, and continuously promote a strong safety culture.
  • Investigate safety hazards, near misses, and minor incidents within the assigned area, perform root cause analysis, develop corrective actions and long-term preventive measures in accordance with Malaysia regulations, and prevent recurrence of similar incidents.
  • Assist in preparing incident investigation reports and compliance analysis reports, ensure all documentation and reporting are submitted in accordance with Malaysian regulatory requirements, and maintain full compliance throughout the incident management process.
  • Review project EHS documentation and promptly rectify any documentation deficiencies or non-compliance.
  • Assist in supervising local EHS personnel and subcontractor EHS teams.

Job Requirements

  • Malaysian citizens are required.
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 6 years of EHS management experience in construction or M&E projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of Malaysia EHS regulations, construction safety standards, and risk management systems. 
  • Capable of preparing Risk Assessments (RA), Permit to Work (PTW), Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment (HIRA), and Incident Reports.
  • Green Book holder is mandatory; NEBOSH and/or OSHA certification is preferred.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, excellent execution skills, effective cross-cultural communication abilities, strong leadership and coordination skills, able to work under pressure, and adaptable to the fast-paced environment of large-scale data centre construction projects.
