We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team in Asheville, NC. The ideal candidate will have strong experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered equipment, trucks, trailers, and heavy construction machinery. This position plays a critical role in ensuring fleet reliability, safety compliance, and operational uptime.

Key Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on diesel trucks, heavy equipment, and fleet vehicles

Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software

Repair and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, steering components, and fuel systems

Conduct DOT inspections and ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards

Troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, sensors, and electronic control modules (ECMs)

Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and parts usage logs

Respond to emergency repair needs in the field when necessary

Inspect equipment for operational readiness and identify potential mechanical failures proactively

Collaborate with operations and fleet management teams to minimize downtime

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required

Technical school or diesel mechanic certification preferred

3+ years of diesel mechanic experience preferred

Experience working on heavy trucks, utility equipment, construction equipment, or fleet vehicles

Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics

Experience using OEM diagnostic software and scan tools preferred

Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying outdoor conditions

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Experience

CAT, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, International, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, or Volvo equipment experience

Utility construction or heavy civil construction industry experience

Welding and fabrication experience is a plus

Experience maintaining trailers, compressors, generators, and support equipment preferred
