Job Overview:

The Senior Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing the financial health and performance of various business segments, with a focus on Research & Development (R&D). This position will lead the financial planning, reporting, and management processes across multiple regions. The individual will serve as a key financial partner to both internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring effective budgeting, cost management, and contract negotiations. In addition, the role will drive financial strategies for R&D initiatives, aimed at maximizing profitability and increasing operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the financial planning and analysis processes, creating and monitoring key performance metrics to support both short- and long-term strategic objectives, particularly in R&D.
  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, accounting, and reporting functions.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with external financial teams to ensure accurate forecasting, cost monitoring, and overall financial alignment, especially for R&D operations.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to review and negotiate financial terms of contracts, particularly those related to R&D, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Deliver timely, accurate financial analysis to support business decisions, improve financial outcomes, and maintain the credibility of the finance function.
  • Act as a key financial advisor on R&D projects, providing insights and recommendations to drive business growth and optimize financial performance.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives by ensuring financial strategies are aligned with growth opportunities, especially in R&D.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and manage risks associated with the companys financial profile.
  • Develop and maintain financial planning systems and processes to support the companys long-term goals, particularly for R&D programs.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, offering financial insights and updates to support decision-making, with a particular focus on R&D.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in senior financial roles, with strong exposure to R&D finance.
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial management, particularly within R&D and development programs.
  • Bachelors degree required; MBA in Finance or CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in collaborating with executive teams and managing relationships with external stakeholders, especially within R&D settings.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of making sound decisions under tight deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and results-driven mindset.
  • Proficient in financial tools and software, including Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional domestic and international travel.

Salary Range: $210k - $250k
