Position Overview:

Hill International is seeking an experienced Design Manager to coordinate and manage all design-related activities on complex construction or infrastructure projects under a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) model. The Design Manager will act as a key liaison between the client, design consultants, and project teams to ensure high-quality, timely, and cost-effective delivery of design packages aligned with the overall project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the development of design deliverables across all disciplines (architectural, structural, MEP, etc.).

  • Monitor the design schedule, ensuring alignment with project milestones and construction activities.

  • Review and manage consultant design submissions for compliance with client requirements, standards, and local regulations.

  • Conduct design coordination meetings and ensure prompt resolution of design issues and RFIs.

  • Support the procurement process by ensuring design information is available for tender packages.

  • Collaborate with construction and engineering teams to ensure buildability and avoid design conflicts.

  • Assist in the implementation of design quality control and assurance procedures.

  • Participate in value engineering, sustainability compliance, and design optimization efforts.

  • Liaise with permitting authorities and ensure timely acquisition of design approvals.

  • Track and manage design change requests and ensure appropriate documentation and approvals.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in design coordination or design management.

  • Experience on large-scale projects within a PMC or consultancy environment in the Middle East.

  • Familiar with design standards, local building codes, and permitting procedures.

  • Proficiency in design and coordination tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and BIM platforms.
