Report to the Project Manager, the candidate is to plan, engineer, and supervise the safe and efficient installation of offshore structures, pipelines, risers, subsea equipment, and other marine operations associated with oil & gas field development, the key responsibilities are within the following areas
General Description of Role and Responsibilities [ but not limited to ]:
Engineering & Planning
- Develop and review detailed installation procedures, method statements, and risk assessments for subsea structures, jackets, top sides, pipelines, flexible risers, umbilicals, moorings, and other marine assets.
- Define lifting and rigging plans, sea fastening arrangements, and load-out strategies.
- Support engineering of temporary works such as grillages, support frames, and installation aids.
- Provide input into project schedules and ensure alignment with vessel availability and weather windows.
- Participate in HAZIDs, HAZOPs, and constructability reviews.
- Analyze hydrodynamic loads, stability, motions, and marine weather criteria.
Marine Operations Supervision
- Support or lead offshore operations including barge and vessel mobilization, load-out, transportation, lifting, lowering, piling, and installation campaigns.
- Coordinate with marine spreads (Derrick Barges, DP vessels, AHTs, etc.) and ensure compliance with project marine operation standards.
- Liaise with third-party marine warranty surveyors (MWS) and classification societies.
- Monitor offshore activities to ensure alignment with procedures, quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Troubleshoot technical and operational challenges in real time offshore.
Interface & Coordination
- Interface with project management, construction, HSE, QA/QC, procurement, and logistics teams.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers involved in fabrication, transport, and offshore works.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, industry codes (DNV, API, ABS, IMCA), and Employers standards.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare engineering deliverables such as installation drawings, technical notes, and interface documents.
- Compile and review as-built documentation, operation logs, and close-out reports.
- Maintain documentation for Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) approval and audits.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of offshore construction methods and marine installation engineering.
- Familiarity with software such as OrcaFlex, MOSES, SACS, AutoCAD, and similar.
- Understanding of marine spread operations (DP vessels, anchor handling, diving support).
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor Degree from an accredited university.
- Work experience of eight (5) years in the sought discipline after earning the university degree.
- Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of offshore experience in total, with at least the last 35 years spent on offshore projects.
- Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write reports.
