Position Summary:

The Commercial Director – PMC leads the development and execution of the commercial strategy for large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives and contractual requirements. They oversee contract administration, claims, variations, disputes, and financial management while mitigating commercial risks and safeguarding project margins. Additionally, they provide leadership to on-site commercial teams, guide negotiations, liaise with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with international standards such as FIDIC.

General Description of Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the commercial strategy aligned with project objectives and client requirements.
  • Lead contract negotiations, reviews, and administration in line with international standards (e.g., FIDIC).
  • Oversee the management of claims, variations, and disputes, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting in collaboration with project controls and finance teams.
  • Monitor commercial risks and develop mitigation plans to safeguard project margins.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, legal advisors, and other stakeholders on all commercial matters.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to commercial and contract management teams on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Support business development and contract acquisition efforts through input on commercial proposals and bids.
  • Lead regular commercial reviews and audits, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
    Minimum 20+ years of experience in commercial management within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
  • Extensive experience in PMC, consultancy, or client-side commercial roles on large Middle East projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract administration, claims management, and dispute resolution.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC and other international contract forms.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills
