Position Summary:
This role supports the planning, design, construction, and operation of airport infrastructure, including airside and landside systems, MEP, safety, and security operations. It involves coordinating cross-functional teams, managing project schedules, budgets, and quality, and ensuring compliance with international aviation standards and regulations. Participants contribute to large-scale airport projects by overseeing operations, systems integration, testing, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance while supporting leadership in delivering safe, efficient, and high-performing airport facilities.
General Description of Role and Responsibilities:
Airside Roles
- Airfield Engineers/Managers: Expertise in the design, construction, and maintenance of airfields and runways.
- Airside Operations Managers: Overseeing airside operations, ensuring compliance with aviation safety regulations, managing aircraft movements, and coordinating ground services.
- Airfield Lighting Engineers: Designing and maintaining airfield lighting systems to ensure safe aircraft movement during all conditions.
- Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Managers: Overseeing the operation and maintenance of ground support equipment for airside operations, ensuring equipment availability and safety.
- Air Traffic Control (ATC) Managers/Engineers: Managing and optimizing air traffic flow and safety in collaboration with airport operations and airlines.
- Safety Managers/Engineers (Airside): Ensuring compliance with airside safety standards and protocols, including aircraft operations, ground support services, and emergency response procedures.
Landside Roles
- Landside Operations Managers: Managing landside activities, including passenger movement, parking operations, transport coordination, and general terminal operations.
- Terminal Operations Managers: Overseeing daily operations within passenger terminals, ensuring smooth check-in, baggage handling, and security procedures.
- Landside Civil Engineers/Managers: Expertise in the design and construction of roads, parking areas, pedestrian facilities, and other landside infrastructure.
- Security Systems Engineers: Installing, managing, and maintaining security systems for landside operations, including surveillance, access control, and baggage screening systems.
- Passenger Flow Managers: Ensuring efficient and safe movement of passengers through check-in, security, and boarding areas.
- Baggage Handling Systems Managers: Overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of baggage handling systems, ensuring smooth and efficient baggage processing.
Cross-functional Roles
- Project Directors: Overseeing large-scale airport projects, managing client relationships, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Project Managers: Leading day-to-day operations, ensuring project delivery from planning through execution, and managing project teams.
- Planning Managers: Managing project schedules, developing detailed timelines, and ensuring project milestones are met within the established timeframes.
- Contract and Commercial Managers: Handling contract negotiations, managing commercial aspects of the project, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and regulations.
- Design Managers: Leading the design phase of airport infrastructure projects, ensuring the integration of technical specifications and compliance with industry standards.
- MEP Engineers/Managers: Overseeing the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems within airport infrastructure projects, ensuring the integration and optimization of these essential systems for terminals, runways, and other infrastructure components.
- Safety Engineers/Managers: Ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols across all aspects of the airport projects.
- Construction Managers: Supervising construction activities, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Testing and Commissioning Managers: Leading the testing and commissioning phases, ensuring that all systems, equipment, and infrastructure are thoroughly tested and operational before going live.
- Operations Engineers/Managers: Overseeing the operational aspects of airport systems, ensuring smooth, efficient, and reliable operations post-construction.
- Maintenance Engineers/Managers: Managing ongoing maintenance and repair of airport infrastructure and systems, ensuring operational continuity and safety standards are met.
- Security Systems Engineers: Overseeing the installation and maintenance of advanced airport security systems, including surveillance, access control, and screening technologies.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Proven experience working on mega airport infrastructure projects across various regions, including GCC, USA, and Europe.
- In-depth knowledge of airport systems, runway design, airside/landside operations, MEP systems, and related infrastructure projects.
- Relevant experience is required for the position you will be considered for.
- Experience in managing large teams (leadership positions) and complex projects in the aviation sector.
- Ability to work in dynamic environments and collaborate with multinational teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Project Management certifications, Engineering qualifications, Airport Safety certifications) are highly desirable.
