Position Summary:

The Risk Manager leads the identification, assessment, and mitigation of project risks across all phases of construction projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and international best practices. They develop and maintain comprehensive risk registers, conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses, and support claims and change management processes. Additionally, they collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, facilitate risk workshops, and promote a proactive risk-aware culture to safeguard project schedule, cost, and performance.

General Description of Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project-specific risk management plans, strategies, and procedures.
  • Lead risk identification workshops with project stakeholders to establish comprehensive risk registers.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments (e.g., Monte Carlo simulations) to analyze potential impacts on schedule, cost, and performance.
  • Maintain and update the risk register, ensuring accurate documentation of mitigation actions and risk ownership.
  • Work closely with planning, cost control, commercial, and technical teams to evaluate and track risk responses.
  • Support claims and change management processes by assessing time and cost risks related to variations.
  • Prepare risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for client and senior management reviews.
  • Facilitate regular risk review meetings and ensure risks are escalated appropriately.
  • Promote a risk-aware culture across the project team and ensure integration of risk management in all project phases.
  • Ensure compliance with client-specific risk policies and international best practices.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in construction project risk management, with at least 5 years in a dedicated risk role.
  • Proven experience working in PMC or consultancy roles on large-scale projects in the Middle East.
  • Strong knowledge of project risk frameworks (e.g., ISO 31000, PMI Risk Standard).
  • Proficiency in risk analysis tools (e.g., Primavera Risk Analysis, @RISK, Safran Risk, Excel Monte Carlo models).
  • Familiarity with FIDIC or other international contract standards and how they relate to risk.
