Position Summary:

The role encompasses planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of rail infrastructure, including tracks, signaling, electrification, stations, tunnels, and rolling stock. It involves managing complex rail projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency, while meeting project schedules, budgets, and technical standards. The position also includes leadership responsibilities across project management, design, construction, and commercial functions to deliver integrated and high-performing rail systems.

General Description of Role and Responsibilities:

Rail Infrastructure and Design Roles

  • Rail Engineers/Managers: Expertise in designing and managing the construction of rail lines, tunnels, bridges, and stations.
  • Track Design Engineers: Specializing in the design and construction of track systems, including alignment, ballast, and track components.
  • Signaling Engineers/Managers: Overseeing the design and implementation of rail signaling systems to ensure safe and efficient train operations.
  • Electrification Engineers: Expertise in the design and installation of electrification systems for railways, including overhead line and traction power systems.
  • Tunnel Engineers: Specializing in the design and construction of tunnels, ensuring safe and efficient underground rail operations.
  • System Integration Managers: Overseeing the integration of various rail system components, ensuring seamless connectivity between signaling, electrification, rolling stock, and station systems. Responsible for ensuring that all systems work cohesively within the broader rail network, optimizing operational efficiency and safety.

Operations and Maintenance Roles

  • Rail Operations Managers: Managing the day-to-day operations of rail systems, ensuring safety, efficiency, and high-quality service for passengers and freight.
  • Rail Station Managers/Head of Stations: Overseeing the operations of train stations, ensuring smooth passenger movement, and efficient train scheduling and coordination.
  • Maintenance Engineers/Managers (Rail): Responsible for the maintenance and repair of rail infrastructure, including tracks, stations, signaling, and electrification systems.
  • Rolling Stock Engineers: Overseeing the maintenance and management of rail vehicles, including trains, locomotives, and freight cars.
  • Depot Managers: Managing the operations of rail depots, overseeing maintenance, train storage, and servicing activities. Ensuring that depots operate efficiently and safely.

Safety and Environmental Roles

  • Rail Safety Managers/Engineers: Ensuring the implementation and compliance with safety standards for rail operations, infrastructure, and personnel.
  • Environmental Engineers: Managing the environmental impact of rail projects, including noise mitigation, water management, and ecological protection.
  • Risk Managers (Rail): Identifying and mitigating safety risks and other potential project hazards to ensure smooth rail project execution and operations.

Cross-functional Roles

  • Project Directors: Leading large-scale rail infrastructure projects, managing client relationships, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Project Managers: Coordinating daily project activities, managing teams, and overseeing project execution from planning through completion.
  • Planning Managers: Developing and managing detailed project schedules, ensuring key milestones are met.

  • Construction Managers: Managing the construction process, ensuring adherence to schedules, quality standards, and budget.
  • Operations Engineers/Managers: Overseeing the operational aspects of rail systems, ensuring smooth, reliable service during and after construction.
  • MEP Engineers/Managers: Overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for rail infrastructure, ensuring integration and optimization.
  • Procurement Managers: Managing procurement activities for rail projects, including sourcing materials, negotiating contracts with suppliers, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services. Responsible for ensuring compliance with procurement processes, quality standards, and cost management.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Proven experience working on mega rail infrastructure projects across various regions, including GCC, USA, and Europe.
  • In-depth knowledge of rail systems, track design, signaling, and related infrastructure projects.
  • Relevant experience is required for the position you will be considered for.
  • Experience in managing large teams (leadership positions) and complex projects in the rail sector.
  • Ability to work in dynamic environments and collaborate with multinational teams.
  • Strong leadership (leadership positions), communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Project Management certifications, Engineering qualifications, Rail Safety certifications) are highly desirable.
