General Description of Role and Responsibilities:

The Risk Engineer will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with large hotels and hospitality projects. This role requires extensive knowledge of risk management principles, methodologies, and tools, combined with significant experience in the hospitality sector. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and clients to develop and implement robust risk management strategies.

  • Lead and manage risk assessments for large hotels and hospitality projects from planning through to execution.
  • Develop and implement risk management plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the hospitality sector.
  • Identify potential project risks, including financial, safety, operational, and environmental risks.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative risk analyses to evaluate the likelihood and impact of identified risks.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize project risks.
  • Monitor and report on risk status, including the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, clients, and other stakeholders on risk management practices.
  • Prepare and review risk assessment reports, risk registers, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated risk management across all project phases.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to assess compliance with risk management plans and procedures.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources related to risk management activities.
  • Mentor and supervise junior risk engineers and technical staff.
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred.
  • Professional certification in risk management (e.g., PMI-RMP, CRISC) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in risk engineering, with a strong background in large hotels and hospitality projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of risk management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Proficiency in risk management software such as ARM, RiskWatch, or similar.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel as required.
