Position Summary:

As a Senior Contracts Engineer at Hill International, you will be responsible for managing all contractual aspects of large-scale construction projects in the Middle East. You will ensure compliance with contract terms, assist in risk management, handle claims and variations, and support project delivery through effective contract administration.

General Description of Role and Responsibilities:

Contract Administration:

  • Review, interpret, and administer all contract documents including agreements, subcontracts, and purchase orders.

Claims & Variations Management:

  • Prepare, review, and negotiate claims, variations, and extension of time requests with contractors and clients. Analyze contract impacts on project schedules and costs.

Risk Management:

  • Identify contractual risks and assist in mitigating them through proactive measures and sound contractual advice.

Coordination & Communication:

  • Liaise with project managers, legal advisors, clients, and contractors on all contractual matters. Participate in progress meetings and contractual negotiations.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure all contractual documentation is accurately maintained and updated. Manage correspondence related to contractual issues.

Dispute Resolution Support:

  • Assist in dispute resolution processes, including preparing documentation for claims, mediation, or arbitration.

Training & Mentoring:

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior contracts engineers and team members.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Law, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years in contract management within construction projects, with at least 5 years in the Middle East.
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, and local contract conditions commonly used in the Middle East.Proficiency in contract management software and MS Office suite.
  • Certifications (Preferred)  in MRICS, or Similar
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams.

  • Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are an asset.
