Position Summary:
The Airport - Senior Architect (Technical Engineering) is responsible for leading the architectural design and technical management of airport and aviation projects, ensuring that program and project requirements are fully met. The role involves developing and maintaining professional relationships with clients, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring that all design and construction deliverables comply with local and international standards, codes, and best practices. The incumbent ensures the delivery of contracted design and construction management services, reviews shop drawings and material submittals, supervises work progress, and provides technical guidance to designers, decorators, architects, and contractors. This role also involves researching and implementing industry trends, sourcing materials, and producing design concepts, samples, and mood boards. The position requires a high level of proficiency in project management, communication, and time management to meet project deadlines effectively. The Senior Architect ensures compliance with Hill Internationals Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Policies, Manuals, and Procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the line manager or supervisor.
General Description of Role and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain professional and meaningful relationships with the client to ensure program and project requirements are being satisfied.
- Knowledge for the implementation of IATA ADRM, GACA 139, IBC (also Saudi Codes and Regulations), and NFPA
- Ensure the delivery of the contracted Design and Construction Management services to the client.
- Review submitted shop drawings and material submittals against the drawings & specifications, local codes and statutory requirements, and international best practice.
- Ensure compliance with all Hill internal processes and procedures.
- Effective verbal and written communication proficiency.
- Time management and task prioritization skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Research and decide on materials and products sourcing.
- Produce sample and mood products.
- Supervise work progress.
- Work closely with designers, decorators, architects, and constructors.
- Research and follow industry changes, evolutions, and best practices.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited university.
- Minimum 15 years relevant experience in Airport/Aviation projects, including space utilization, concept design, IBC (also Saudi Codes and Regulations), GACA 139, NFPA, and IATA ADRM, and able to draft scope of works and specifications.
- Thorough knowledge of airport landside and Passenger Terminal operations
- Effectively uncover client needs and provide compelling solutions.
- Thoroughly perform site inventories.
- Stakeholder management and consultation
- Efficiently create uniquely desirable, artistic, and inspirational designs.
- Accurately prepare construction drawings and take-offs.
- Demonstrate and maintain a high knowledge of landscape trends, features, and techniques.
- Undertake a design project from concept to completion.
- Define project requirements and schedule during the brief.
- Interpret and translate customer needs into rough plans.
- Set costs and project fees according to the budget.
