Reporting to project service manager, the Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely execution of all phases — from engineering to procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and handover. The role supports the Project Manager and Project Service Manager by providing schedule forecasts, progress updates, and delay analysis, enabling proactive project management.

General Description of Role and Responsibilities [ but not limited to ]:

1. Schedule Development & Baseline Preparation

  • Develop the Project Master Schedule in line with the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Establish Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and activity coding in coordination with project disciplines.
  • Define critical path activities and key project milestones.
  • Ensure alignment of the schedule with cost control, procurement, and engineering deliverables.

2. Progress Monitoring & Control

  • Monitor actual progress versus the baseline schedule.
  • Update schedules periodically (weekly/monthly) with real progress data.
  • Identify schedule deviations and propose recovery/mitigation plans.
  • Maintain progress curves (S-curves) and manpower histograms.

3. Coordination with Project Teams

  • Liaise with engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and offshore teams to collect progress data.
  • Integrate subcontractor schedules into the overall project schedule.
  • Ensure offshore and onshore execution schedules are aligned for critical interfaces.

4. Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare weekly/monthly schedule reports for management and the client.
  • Present updated Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis.
  • Highlight potential delays and recommend corrective actions.
  • Produce look-ahead schedules for short-term planning.

5. Delay & Change Management

  • Perform schedule impact analysis for change orders and variations.
  • Support claims preparation with time impact analysis (TIA).
  • Maintain records for extension-of-time (EOT) submissions.

Project scope  responsibility distribution

  • Key activities:  Yard fabrication, module assembly, civil works, vendor delivery tracing- Marine vessel mobilization, subsea installation, hook-up, commissioning campaigns.
  • Challenges:  Material delivery coordination, yard productivity, multiple work fronts- Material delivery coordination, yard productivity, multiple work fronts.
  • Interface: Vendors, fabrication yards, site construction teams- Offshore construction crews, marine spreads, offshore logistics teams.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Work experience of ten (10) years after earning the BSc degree.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of offshore experience in total, with at least the last 3–5 years spent on offshore projects.
  • Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write reports.
