Construction Engineer

Position: Construction Engineer

Location: Johnson City, TN

Duration: Fulltime Permanent

Salary: DOE

This position is responsible for oversight of Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) projects with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, local municipalities, and all field-based Inspector staff. The Construction Engineer is also responsible for client communication and project management, scope, and budget.

Responsibilities

• Lead project management tasks, including client interaction and creating and adhering to budgets
• Perform on-site earthwork oversight and structural review
• Supervise CEI Inspectors and subcontractors to ensure all company and project standards are being met
• Create and maintain project documentation, including inspection reports, change orders, and invoicing
  • Delegate and mitigate project questions and concerns
  • Lead interdepartmental communication for multi-phase projects
  • Review and approve daily reports from field Inspectors
  • Participate in proposal writing
  • Monitor and forecast project progress
  • Visit project sites for oversite as needed
  • Additional related duties as needed
  
  
  Requirements
  
  • 7-10+ years of inspection experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, or related field preferred
  • PE license required
  • Valid drivers license required
  • Transportation (bridge, roadway, rail) construction inspection experience
    
    • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training, Radiation Safety/Nuclear Gauge/Hazmat Training, TDOT or ACI Concrete Field Testing, TDOT Aggregate, and TDOT Hot Mix Asphalt Roadway Certifications
    • Experience with Site Manager software and roadway plans preferred
    • Experience with construction of traffic signals, fiber optic cable, and ITS components a plus
    • Willingness to work overtime, limited nighttime construction, and overnight travel as needed
