Position Overview:
The Litigation Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team with the preparation, management, and resolution of commercial insurance property claims. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling such claims, excellent organizational skills, and a keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, including the preparation and organization of case files.
* Conduct legal research and gather relevant information to support case strategy.
* Draft, review, and edit legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
* Coordinate and manage the scheduling of depositions, hearings, and other court-related activities.
* Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to obtain necessary information and documentation.
* Maintain and update case management databases and ensure all files are accurately documented and accessible.
* Assist in trial preparation, including the organization of exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
* Monitor and manage case deadlines and ensure timely submission of filings.
* Handle administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing calendars, and processing mail related to litigation cases.
Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in legal studies, paralegal studies, or a related field. (Preferred, not required)
* Minimum of 2 years of experience as a litigation assistant, preferably with a focus on commercial insurance property claims.
* Strong understanding of legal procedures, court rules, and litigation processes.
* Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with electronic document management systems.
* Familiarity with state and federal court systems and procedures.
