Job Summary:
The Acute Care Nurse provides advanced care for patients with acute conditions, including pre- and post-operative care, and performing advanced diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose acute or chronic conditions causing rapid physiological deterioration.
- Perform emergency procedures (BLS, ACLS) and document patient care data.
- Administer blood transfusions, IV infusions, and manage pain relief and sedation.
- Assess urgent health conditions, interpret diagnostic tests, and screening results.
- Operate and monitor invasive equipment, interpret EKGs and X-rays.
Requirements:
- NCLEX-RN certification is mandatory.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with state license or compact licensure.
- Accredited Associate's or Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited university.
- Certification by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) (preferred).
- Minimum two years of experience in an acute care environment.
- Ability to build compassionate patient relationships and collaborate with healthcare teams.
- Skilled in handling sophisticated medical equipment.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duty.
Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to infectious diseases and occupational hazards.
- Ability to withstand physical and emotional stress.
- Ability to stand and move for long periods.
