Our client is driving an holistic approach to Business Value Optimization and Realization from leverage of public and private cloud services. Cloud Financial Management (CFM) constitutes one key axis in our global cloud value framework and subsumes FinOps and DevFinOps activities in support of our product development teams and of management stakeholders.

Your Role

You join as a member of our newly formed Cloud Value Engineering team (CVE) in our IT hub in Porto. The team is part of our global CCoE / Cloud Business Office function, called Cloud Office. From Porto you contribute to our distributed team across European IT hubs as well as with digital product development, operational services and management stakeholders around the world.

Your Responsibilities

  • Cost Analysis and Optimization: Analyze cloud service spending at different levels, using CFM tools and methodologies. Identify cost optimization opportunities and provide input for strategic decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, infrastructure, and cloud provider AWS teams to improve tools, integrate data flows, and align financial strategies with technical needs.
  • Reporting and Monitoring: Monitor daily spending, prepare weekly and monthly reports, and present analyses for review, ensuring transparency and control of cloud costs.
  • FinOps Strategies: Develop and implement cost optimization strategies, such as rightsizing, waste management, and leveraging discounts, tracking the progress and success of activities.
  • Support and Consulting: Advise and support operational teams in implementing CFM controls and guardrails, and product development teams in FinOps/DevFinOps activities, collaborating in the cost optimization of solutions.
  • Business Analysis: Conduct business analyses to understand cost drivers, identify trends and opportunities, and provide insights for strategic decision-making related to the cloud.
  • Financial Modeling: Develop financial models for cost projection, scenario analysis, and evaluation of return on investment (ROI) of cloud projects.
  • Communication and Presentation: Communicate insights and recommendations clearly and effectively to different audiences, including technical, financial, and executive teams.

Your Skills And Experiences

  • Technical Cloud Knowledge: Solid technical knowledge of cloud services (mainly AWS), including cost management tools, pricing models, discounts, and reports.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to integrate and to analyze financial data, using tools like Python, Marimo or Jupyter notebooks, Excel, SQL, and other query languages. Creation and maintenance of dashboards (e.g., AWS QuickSight).
  • Financial Concepts: Understanding of financial concepts in the cloud, such as cost showback, cost attribution, rate optimization using eg Savings Plans, forecasting, and amortization.
  • Communication and Presentation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization.
  • Experience in FinOps/DevFinOps: Experience in implementing FinOps and DevFinOps practices, including Policy-as-Code and integration into delivery pipelines. Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with agile methodologies and ability to work in dynamic environments.
