Role Overview

As a Senior HR Officer based in Porto, you will serve as the primary HR contact for operational teams across multiple sites. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will provide expert guidance on personnel matters and support managers throughout the employee lifecycle. You will combine strong labour-law knowledge with a practical, service-oriented approach, ensuring that employment documentation, employee relations cases and organisational changes are handled accurately, consistently and within the applicable legal framework.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide first-line HR advice to operational teams, clarifying employment matters, internal policies and collective bargaining agreements. Through regular telephone and written support, you will respond to managers' requests, explain HR procedures and recommend appropriate courses of action. You will draft employment contracts, contractual amendments and formal correspondence concerning leave, contract termination and mutual separation requests.

You will manage sensitive employee relations and disciplinary cases in close coordination with the designated HR Manager. This will include preparing and sending invitations to preliminary disciplinary or dismissal meetings within the required legal deadlines. You will draft warnings and formal notices relating to matters such as unauthorised absence, repeated lateness, breaches of health and safety requirements or inappropriate workplace conduct. You will also guide managers through dismissal procedures, incapacity cases and prolonged or unjustified absences, ensuring that each stage is properly documented and compliant.

You will coordinate the HR administration associated with employee transfers and departures. You will prepare assignment amendments and end-of-contract communications, as well as compile the documents required by a new service provider or employer, including payslips and individual employee records.

Beyond daily operational support, you will identify opportunities to improve HR practices, workflows and tools. You will contribute to cross-functional initiatives alongside other HR colleagues, supporting the evolution of people policies, process harmonisation and change management activities.

Requirements

You have a degree n in Human Resources, Labour Law or a comparable field. As a senior HR professional, you will bring solid experience in operational HR management, personnel administration and employment law. You will also be familiar with collective bargaining agreements and confident handling disciplinary procedures, contractual documentation, employee transfers and termination-related matters. Full professional fluency in written and spoken French is essential.

You will be comfortable managing several complex cases simultaneously, maintaining accurate records and meeting demanding legal and operational deadlines. Strong written communication skills will enable you to produce clear, precise and legally appropriate documents, while confident verbal communication will support effective conversations with managers and operational stakeholders.

You will demonstrate a strong service mindset, sound judgement and the ability to explain complex HR procedures in an accessible way. Teamwork, adaptability and close attention to detail will be essential, together with the composure and professionalism required to manage confidential and sensitive employee matters.
