Role Overview
The Assistant Branch Manager will support the Senior Branch Manager in ensuring the professional and efficient operation of the branch. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, exceeding business targets, managing a portfolio of clients, and overseeing the growth and development of team members. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound knowledge of banking operations, possess strong leadership skills, and have a drive for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Branch Management Support: Assist the Senior Branch Manager in the efficient and professional management of the branch.
- Customer Service Excellence: Ensure high standards of customer service in alignment with the Bank's values and goals.
- Target Achievement: Proactively plan and organise branch activities to meet and exceed targets, driving increased business volume and profitability.
- Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of clients, identifying growth opportunities within existing and prospective client relationships.
- Team Development: Facilitate the growth and development of team members through mentoring, training, and ongoing support.
- Operational Soundness & Compliance: Maintain operational standards, uphold compliance regulations, and ensure adherence to Bank policies and procedures.
- Complex Problem Solving: Collaborate with the Senior Branch Manager to resolve complex issues and streamline branch operations.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in the banking industry, with at least 2 years in a commercial supervisory role, ideally at multiple branches.
- Educational Background: A degree in Banking and Finance, Business Management, Economics, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Maltese, with strong business communication abilities.
- Customer Service Orientation: Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- People Management: Proven people management skills with the ability to inspire and lead teams.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications and understanding of banking fundamentals.
- Organisational Skills: A highly organised individual with strong time management capabilities.
- Problem-Solving Aptitude: Solutions-driven, with a proactive approach to problem resolution.
