Role Overview

As the General Manager, you will be the face of the company, leading sales and business development efforts while steering the organisation towards operational excellence. Your technical acumen and leadership skills will be essential in managing and motivating teams across various departments, including installers, warehousing, distribution, and installation services throughout Malta and Gozo. You will develop and implement a three-year strategic plan, enhance corporate structures, and foster a customer-centric culture that prioritises exceptional service and innovation. In essence, ensuring customer satisfaction and having a motivated workforce will be the two key indicators of success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans to drive business growth and market expansion starting with a 3 year horizon.
  • Customer Centricity: Champion a "Customer First" approach, ensuring exceptional customer service is at the heart of all operations, with a focus on enhancing customer satisfaction. Each touchpoint needs to be seen from this lense.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and mentor cross functional teams, fostering a collaborative and high performance work environment.
  • Health and Safety: Promote a culture that embraces health and safety as core values, fostering a proactive mindset and ensuring the awareness and protection of employees, suppliers, and customers through implementation of best practices.
  • Sales and Business Development: Support fully the sales initiatives and business development activities of the Sales team, serving as the public face of the company to build brand awareness and strong customer relationships.
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee, structure, and continuously improve operations across all departments, including warehousing, distribution, and installation services in Malta and Gozo, ensuring efficiency and alignment with corporate objectives. Continuous improvement will be critical.
  • Financial Management: Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, and financial reporting, such as analysis of EBITDA to inform strategic decisions.
  • Corporate Governance: Implement and enhance corporate structures and governance processes to support sustainable growth and operational excellence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and industry partners.
  • Innovation and Growth: Identify and pursue opportunities for innovation in products and services, staying ahead of industry trends and customer needs.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Educational Background: Ideally hold an MBA, possibly, though not required, supplemented with a technical qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of technical principles either directly within the renewable energy sector or being one with a solid technical acumen which would assist them to understand and be practical in the technical principles of the sector.
  • Experience: Over 3 years of experience in managing large teams, or managing a company, with a proven track record in operational management.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English is critical; knowledge of Maltese will be a significant asset.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Demonstrated commitment to delivering outstanding customer service with a focus on enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, driving performance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Vision: Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and execution, with the ability to set objectives and guide the organisation towards achieving them.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions and industry trends.
