Our Client, a leading regulatory body, plays a key role in overseeing and ensuring fair competition. They strive to uphold standards and maintain effective regulation in alignment with EU guidelines and their own criteria, providing essential oversight and guidance to the industry.
Role Overview
The Market Analyst will be responsible for analysing and monitoring the electronic communications and postal markets. The position involves assessing competition levels, reporting on market trends, and engaging with EU regulatory bodies to support the Client's objectives of maintaining a fair and competitive landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Analysis and Competition Assessment: Define and evaluate electronic communications and postal markets in line with EU Commission guidelines and our Client's criteria. Identify operators with Significant Market Power (SMP) and recommend necessary actions.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Conduct ongoing monitoring of market trends, prepare bi-annual sector performance reports, and publish consultation documents and decisions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage and consult with industry stakeholders, including EU National Regulatory Authorities, BEREC, and the EU Commission, to promote alignment and information-sharing.
- Research and Data Collection: Conduct periodic surveys and gather data on market conditions to support detailed analysis. Maintain a comprehensive database for internal use and dissemination.
- Project Management: Oversee project deliverables, engage external contractors as needed, and contribute to other initiatives that align with the Client's strategic objectives.
- Consultative Role: Collaborate with Senior Management and other internal teams to provide expert advice, as well as contribute to policy reviews and process refinements.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Experience: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Economics and a strong analytical background. Previous experience in a regulatory or analytical role is desirable.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required. Proficiency in Maltese would be an asset.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and insightful reports and consultations.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with experience in data analysis and report generation.
- Organisation: Highly organised and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Able to work independently with a proactive approach to achieving objectives.
- Problem-Solving: Skilled in analysing data, formulating recommendations, and justifying decisions with evidence-based insights.
