Role Overview
The Tax Manager will take on a leadership role, spearheading the growth and development of the Tax Team while managing a varied client portfolio. Reporting to the Partner, this strategic position requires a candidate with strong business acumen and extensive tax expertise, both domestic and international. The ideal candidate will be results-oriented, possess excellent management skills, and ensure the delivery of exceptional client experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Tax expertise: Have experience in domestic as well as cross-border and international tax issues.
Leadership: Take ownership of the Tax Unit within the organization.
Development: Drive and oversee the development of the unit.
Training: Train Tax seniors and associates.
Strategic growth: Improve the organisations market position by defining long-term goals, building key-customer relationships, and identifying business opportunities.
Proactivity: Adopt a proactive approach.
Advisory services: Provide Tax and VAT advisory services at the highest level.
Review: Review Tax Returns for corporates, individuals, and other bodies of persons.
Documentation: Review Tax Refund forms and shareholders registration forms.
Support: Assist the responsible Partner in complex Tax and VAT Advisory projects.
Marketing: Assist in the preparation of articles, newsletters, and other marketing materials.
Client solutions: Understand clients' needs to develop workable solutions.
Timely advice: Provide clients with timely advice on the impact of changes in international taxation.
Performance targets: Set and achieve key performance targets for the team.
Collaboration: Support and work closely with other entities within the Group.
Representation: Represent the organisation in local and international tax forums.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Experience: Minimum of five years experience in a management role within the field of Tax.
Client management: Proven track record in client relationship management and managing a team.
Analytical skills: Be analytical and have sound problem-solving skills.
Fast-paced environment: Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Presentation skills: Possess strong presentation skills and able to deliver to international audiences.
Communication: Strong verbal and written skills in English and Maltese.
Judgement: A combination of decisiveness and sound judgement.
Professional qualification: The candidate will be a warranted accounting professional or a lawyer specialising in taxation.
