1. Main purpose of the job

The FSQA Specialist is responsible for ensuring food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across our supply chain and production processes. This role involves supplier and product management, regulatory compliance, document control, and data analysis to support food safety initiatives. The FSQA Specialist will work closely with procurement, regulatory, and operations teams to drive best practices, standardize processes, and mitigate food safety risks. This position requires a strong understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, labeling legislation, and quality standards, along with excellent organizational and communication skills to engage with suppliers, regulatory authorities, and internal teams.

2. Responsibilities and duties

Supplier & Product Compliance

• Conduct supplier and product onboarding to ensure compliance with company food safety and quality requirements.

• Develop and maintain quality specifications and collaborate with suppliers to implement best practices.

• Analyze customer complaint trends and work with suppliers to drive corrective action and continuous improvement.

Regulatory & Labeling Compliance

• Collaborate with the Regulatory team to verify ingredient lists, allergen statements, and nutritional information for weekly menus.

• Ensure supplier information is accurate and up to date within company systems.

• Verify ingredient information uploaded to websites, ensuring consistency and accuracy for customers.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work with internal teams, including procurement, culinary development, and distribution, to ensure food safety and quality objectives are met.

• Communicate effectively with suppliers, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders to address compliance and quality concerns.

• Other duties as assigned.

3. Skills and preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of food safety systems, HACCP principles, and quality assurance standards.
• Experience in food labeling legislation, preferably with Canadian regulatory requirements.
• High level of analytical skills with experience in data analysis and trend identification.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and adapt to shifting business needs.
• Experience in supplier management and product quality assurance.
• Passion for food safety and continuous improvement.
• Excellent spoken and written English is required
• Available in the Canadian time zone
