CAD Designer/Technician

Location: South Wales / South West of England 

The CAD Designer/Technician will be responsible for creating detailed and accurate enquiry and production drawings to support the sales and engineering teams. The role is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heavy crane lifting services, contributing to the planning and execution of lifting operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop enquiry drawings for the sales team using AutoCAD, including layouts, elevations, point load diagrams, and site plans.
  • Produce accurate production drawings and design information for the engineering and production departments.
  • Prepare site plans and logistics layouts incorporating crane/delivery vehicles to aid site operations.
  • Attend project launch meetings and assist in standardizing drawing information.
  • Liaise with internal staff and external sub-contractors on design queries and provide technical assistance.
  • Maintain drawing registers, upload drawings to project folders, and keep building availability databases up-to-date.
  • Prepare and submit full planning applications as needed.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD with the ability to produce high-quality 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Good communication, IT, and planning skills.
  • Familiarity with modular build processes is advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Understanding of quality assurance systems.
