About the job Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse
HRRMC Intensive Care Unit is seeking a PRN (on call, as needed) Registered Nurse. This role will require flexibility and include day, night, and weekend shifts. The position is eligible for an 8% PRN Differential as well as shift differentials. This is a Full Functioning 2-bed ICU t with Internal Medicine Hospitalist Intensivist Physician coverage.
Summary Statement:
A Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care is able to independently to complete complex assessment of the patient's condition, monitor and safeguard quality of care delivered, act as an advocate for the patient and family, support the family by providing educate ion, and monitor bodily function closely in an effort to change the treatment when necessary. Through the care planning process, the RN collaborates with the patient, family, providers, and others on the healthcare team to establish realistic and measurable short and long term goals; prioritizing needs through planning, and the implementation of all interventions to include patient education and counseling. The RN must maintain safe and effective care throughout the episode of care through the institution of standard procedures that stabilize each patient's condition or through the prevention of serious complications in emergency situations. Each intervention is evaluated and documented to determine the outcome of care and if additional interventions are require to achieve optimal health outcomes. The RN acts as a patient advocate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Monitors patients and intervenes appropriately, including medical/surgical patients on telemetry.
2. Verifies and completes all physicians' orders.
3. Assists other staff in emergencies in other nursing units when possible.
4. Promotes communication and positive relationships within ICU, with other nursing units and with other hospital departments.
5. Assists Nurse Manager as requested.
6. Facilitates multi-disciplinary daily ICU patient rounds as applicable.
7. Works in cooperation with Respiratory therapy with management of complex respiratory patients requiring intervention.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (ADN) from an accredited nursing program. Minimum of one year Intensive Care experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must maintain current, active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado. Must maintain current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certification.
