HRRMC Medical/Surgical department is currently seeking a PRN (on-call, as needed) Registered Nurse. This position will require weekend availability and is eligible for an 8% PRN Differential. 

SCOPE STATEMENT:

A Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical Surgical Unit can independently assess and evaluate the health status of medical, surgical, pediatric, and swing patients utilizing objective and subjective data and identifying healthcare problems. Through the care planning process, the RN collaborates with the patient, family, providers, and others on the healthcare team to establish realistic and measurable short and long-term goals and prioritize needs through planning and implementing all interventions, including patient education and counseling. The RN must maintain safe and effective care throughout the episode of care through the institution of standard procedures that stabilize each patient's condition or through the prevention of serious complications in emergency situations. Each intervention is evaluated and documented to determine the outcome of care and if additional interventions are required to achieve optimal health outcomes. The RN acts as a patient advocate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Directly provides acute care and swing bed patient care as a team member at the highest standards of evidence-based practice;
2. Evaluating health status through the collection and assessment of health data;
3. Provide health teaching and health counseling;
4. Provide therapy and treatment that is supportive and restorative to life and well- being either directly to the patient or indirectly through consultation with, delegation to, supervision of, or teaching of others;
5. Execute delegated medical functions;
6. Review and monitor therapy and treatment plans;
7. Correctly, accurately, and timely documentation in the medical record all assessment, interventions, teaching, and care coordination efforts of patient care.
8. Collaborates with ancillary departments and physician providers to address the medical, social, and spiritual needs of the patient in a culturally and age appropriate manner.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (ADN) from an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must maintain current, active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado. 

Must maintain current CPR

Must maintain current ACLS and PALS certification or within 60 days of employment.
