Certified Nursing Assistant or CNA in Training

HRRMC's Same Day Surgery department has a full time opening as a Certified Nursing Assistant or a CNA Student to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

CNA Students are encouraged to apply.

CNA's perform patient care duties as delegated by nursing. The job consists of basic nursing skills, personal care skills, basic restorative services and recognition of physical health, mental health and social service needs. CNA's ensure infection control measures are adhered to and that safety and emergency procedures are followed. CNAs promote and respect patient rights and independence all while demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills. CNAs work to ensure patient safety at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Performs patient care as assigned by the registered nurse. Patient care always includes: assisting with admissions, discharges, obtaining vital signs, discontinue IVs, weighing patients, blood glucose test, urine pregnancy test, and answering call lights on all SDS patients. 

2. Promptly reports all changes in patients' conditions to the patients' Primary Nurse. 

3. Performs other tasks in the unit as assigned.

4. Provides a safe and clean environment for all patients on the unit. 

5. Transports patients as needed to other areas of the hospital and when being discharged. 

6. Cleans and prepares patient rooms for admissions, stripping and making beds.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or GED preferred; certification as a nursing assistant is preferred

Enrolled in CNA certification course at time of hire 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must maintain current CPR certification. 

Must maintain current CNA certification or be certified within 4 months of hire.
