HRRMC Medical/Surgical department is seeking a PRN (on call, as needed) CNA/EMT. This role requires flexibility to work different shifts, which may include both day and night shifts. The position is eligible for an 8% PRN Differential as well as shift differentials.
Summary Statement:
CNA/EMTs perform patient care duties as delegated by a nursing. The job consists of basic patient related healthcare skills, personal care skills, basic restorative services, and recognition of mental health and social service needs. CNA/EMTs ensure infection control measures are adhered to, safety and emergency procedures follow. CNA/EMTs promote and respect patient rights and independence, all while demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills. CNA/EMTs work to ensure patient safety at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Performs patient care as assigned by the nurse. This may include the data collection of vital signs, daily weights, dietary intake, and output
- Accurate and timely document in the EHR data collected and/or care performed.
- Immediately, as available, respond to patient call lights, address patient needs, and report any changes in patient condition to the primary nurse.
- Assist patients with rehabilitative activities and activities of daily living such as drinking, eating, dressing, bathing, and personal hygiene.
- Safely ambulates patients within parameters of weight bearing status or at the level of assistance indicated by RN or Rehab staff.
- Act as a behavioral health safety sitter when appropriate.
- Assist nursing staff to keep room tidy and clutter-free.
- Clean collection of urine and stool samples as delegated by the nurse.
- Prepare patient rooms for admission and assist in the discharge process.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) or certification within 4 months.
- Or EMT-B state or national level.
- Graduate Nurse: associates degree in nursing (ADN) or bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). May only work a maximum of 4 months while waiting to pass RN boards.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Colorado State Certified Nursing Assistant License within 4 months of hire. BLS/CPR Or EMT-B or NREMT Or Graduate Nurse with evidence of successful completion of RN program.
- BLS within 30 days of hire.
