HealthOPM is hiring on behalf of a post-secondary Student Health Clinic in Southwestern Ontario (Brantford area). We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Primary Health Care (NP-PHC) for a 6-month temporary assignment, with a very competitive rate, and the possibility of extension or transition to a permanent opportunity.
This role is well-suited for an NP who enjoys primary care, student wellness, preventative care, mental health supports, and health promotion in a structured clinic setting.

Clinic Environment
You'll be working in a newly renovated clinic space, including two examination rooms, a waiting room area, and an accessible washroom.
About the Role
The Nurse Practitioner will provide holistic primary care services for students within a post-secondary environment, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, consultations, health education, and referrals. The NP will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a culturally supportive environment grounded in Respect and the Good Mind principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive and focused health assessments, including health history and physical evaluation
- Provide diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions
- Deliver health promotion, prevention education, sexual health support, and wellness strategies
- Provide care that is trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and harm-reduction aligned for students experiencing substance use/misuse and/or mental health concerns
- Initiate therapeutic interventions and prescribe medications within NP scope

Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., urine, HCG, rapid strep)
- Arrange follow-ups, investigations, referrals, and consults according to established procedures
- Maintain complete, accurate documentation for charts and medical records
- Participate in campus-wide health promotion initiatives, workshops, and outreach
- Collaborate with community partners and serve as a clinical resource to other professionals as needed
- Practice in alignment with College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) standards and guidelines
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current CNO registration as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (NP-PHC)

BCLS certification (current)

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a primary care setting
Working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Regulated Health Professions Act, Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act)

Strong critical thinking, assessment, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work autonomously and collaboratively

Experience working with young adults / campus health is an asset
Knowledge of mental health supports, sexual health, and preventative care
