Position: Experienced Long-Term Care (LTC) Cook
Location: Burlington Facility Long-Term Care (LTC)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Working Hours: 9:30 AM 5:30 PM, Saturday to Friday
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our team at our Long-Term Care Facility in Burlington. In this role, you will prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals tailored to our residents' dietary needs, ensuring their well-being and satisfaction. This full-time, temporary position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of the residents in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meal Preparation: Cook meals according to established menus while ensuring food quality, taste, and nutritional value.
- Texture Modification: Adapt meals for residents with dysphagia by modifying food textures (e.g., pureed, soft).
- Food Safety & Hygiene: Maintain a clean kitchen environment by adhering to food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
- Inventory & Ordering: Assist in food storage, ordering, and inventory management to ensure sufficient supplies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to accommodate residents' dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Meal Service: Serve meals efficiently, ensuring correct portion sizes and food temperatures.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned.
- Training & Development: Participate in training to stay up-to-date with food safety, health standards, and culinary best practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- Culinary Program Graduate from a recognized institution.
- Certified Food Handler certification.
- Previous Long-Term Care Experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of Food Texture Modification for individuals with dysphagia.
- Valid Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSC).
- Flu Shot or prescription for Tamiflu (in case of an outbreak).
- Two-Step TB Test clearance.
