Job Title: Cardiac Registered Respiratory Therapist Perfusionist

Position Overview:
HealthOPM is seeking a skilled Perfusionist to support open-heart and major vascular surgeries at a hospital in Kitchener. This critical role involves operating heart-lung machines, managing extracorporeal life support systems, and collaborating with the cardiac surgery team to ensure patient safety during surgery and in critical care settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Equipment: Manage heart-lung machines and other life support devices during surgeries.
- Patient Care: Administer blood products and solutions as prescribed, ensuring optimal patient oxygenation and blood flow.
- Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff for comprehensive patient care.
- Emergency Response: Respond calmly and expertly to medical emergencies.
- Education & Research: Participate in ongoing professional development, integrating new research into practice.
- Non-Cardiac Services: Provide perfusion support for non-cardiac surgeries as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Perfusion Science Program.
- Certification: Current certification with The Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP), with the ability to maintain annual re-certification.
- Skills: Strong clinical judgment, ability to function effectively under pressure, and operate complex medical equipment.
- Physical & Mental Capability: Ability to perform duties efficiently in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: University degree in a related field.
- Experience: Previous clinical experience as a Clinical Perfusionist.
- Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
