HealthOPM is seeking a Casual Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to support a retirement home in Mississauga within a dementia / memory care unit. This role is ideal for nurses experienced in seniors care, cognitive impairment, and responsive behaviours, with strong EMR Med e-Care documentation skills and the ability to work flexible casual shifts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents in a retirement home dementia and memory care unit
  • Support residents living with Alzheimers, dementia, and cognitive decline
  • Administer medications and treatments according to nursing standards and physician orders
  • Complete accurate and timely charting using EMR Med e-Care system

  • Monitor resident condition and report changes to interdisciplinary team

  • Assist with care planning, behaviour management, and resident safety

  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards

  • Support a safe, respectful, and person-centred care environment


Qualifications

  • Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) – Active license with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Experience in long-term care, dementia care, or memory care required
  • Familiarity with EMR Med e-Care strongly preferred

  • Minimum 1 year RPN experience in LTC, retirement, or seniors care setting
  • Strong clinical judgment, documentation, and communication skills

  • Comfortable working with responsive behaviours and cognitive impairment
  • Flexible availability for casual shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends)


Compliance Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) – Valid within 12 months

  • TB Test – Valid within 6 months

  • Proof of Immunization (MMR, Varicella, etc.)

  • N95 Mask Fit Test

  • BLS Certification (Current)
