About the job Security Sales Design Engineer | New York Metro
Security Sales Design Engineer
Our client is an established, fast-growing integrator that plans, deploys, and supports building technology for some of the country's most demanding organizations. Their work covers physical security, collaboration and conferencing spaces, structured cabling and network infrastructure, and smart lighting, all delivered under one roof so clients have a single partner from first sketch to long-term service. Customers include banks, law firms, hotels, media companies, research organizations, tech firms, and government agencies. The company employs several hundred people across multiple U.S. markets and continues to add talent as it expands.
Why This Role Matters
Great security projects are won long before installation begins. In this position, you'll be the technical voice in the room during the sales cycle, working alongside account executives to understand what a client needs, shaping a design that fits, and building the pricing and documentation that turn an opportunity into a contract. Background in security integration (access control, video surveillance, intrusion) will give you a real edge.
Day to Day, You Will
- Walk client sites and review existing infrastructure to understand what's working, what isn't, and where the client wants to go
- Translate those findings into early-stage system layouts, equipment schedules, and construction-ready drawings
- Put together budgetary estimates so clients can plan before final design is locked
- Build complete proposal packages and get them into client hands once internally approved
- Work hand in hand with architects, engineering consultants, and other trades on coordinated designs
- Stay in steady contact with clients and internal designers so expectations remain aligned
- Help the delivery team confirm that installed systems perform as designed
- Collaborate with peers in the AV and security engineering groups on multi-discipline projects
- Feed what you learn from past bids and completed jobs back to the sales and technical teams
- Keep your knowledge of new platforms and industry trends sharp
Reporting
You'll report directly to senior regional leadership for the New York market.
You'll Be a Strong Fit If You Have
- A two-year degree at minimum; a four-year degree in engineering, electronics, or a related area is a plus
- A track record in IT or network-related work
- Certifications from leading security platform manufacturers (a strong advantage)
- Comfort working in AutoCAD or similar drafting software, and solid Excel skills
- The organizational discipline to juggle multiple bids and deadlines
- A self-driven work style and the ability to run your own schedule
Pay and Perks
Base salary of $122K to $134K, depending on background. Benefits include:
- Health, dental, and vision plans, with coverage available for domestic partners
- 401(k) with a discretionary company match
- Paid time off, 10 company holidays, and paid family leave
- Employer-paid life and long-term disability insurance, plus optional supplemental life coverage
