Hatch Asia has been retained by Asia's premier private education group to help the organization identify a Professor for its School of Media and Communications. This is a key leadership role that requires someone to inspire both academic and research excellence, develop cutting-edge programs and play an active role in shaping the future of Media & Communications education. 

This is a key academic leadership role for a Professor with a strong track record in research, teaching and academic service, ideally someone who has led research teams, secured notable grants and shaped their field through scholarship and mentorship. 

The Challenge

Academic Leadership & Program Development 

  • Provide leadership in curriculum innovation and development across  Masters & Doctorate program portfolio. 
  • Support the establishment of new niche programs aligned with industry trends and scholarly growth areas (e.g Digital Media, Political Communications, New Media Studies and Comparative Film Studies)
  • Mentor early career academics and build succession plans for the school's continued academic depth and diversity.

Research & Scholarly Impact

  • Lead grant applications, especially for competitive external research grants. 
  • supervise and examine postgraduate research students (Masters & PhD Levels) 
  • Advance the school's scholarly output through peer-reviewed publications and high-impact research. 
  • serve as a core contributor to the groups internal journal, taking on reviewer/editor roles fostering a culture of academic publishing. 
  • bring visibility to the school via playing a role in global conferences and research collaborations. 

Service to the University 

  • Participate in faculty committees, school strategy workshops and open days. 
  • Contribute to institutional visibility and rankings, specifically in areas like staff qualifications, research outputs and graduate outcomes. 
  • Represent the school in academic boards, journal committees or grant panels both internally and externally. 

What It Takes

  • A PhD in Media & Communications/ Related disciplines. 
  • A proven academic track record with published journals and ability to drive research excellence. 
  • Demonstrated leadership in research grant acquisition and research team supervision. 
  • Experience in serving on grant review panels, academic promotion boards or editorial boards, is highly desirable. 
  • Global awareness and familiarity of expectations in International higher education rankings. 
  • Committed to inter-disciplinary teaching and student engagement including mentoring master's students in research methodology and political marketing.
