Job Purpose

The Transport Operations role supports the day-to-day running of transport operations, ensuring efficient planning, compliance, and service delivery across the fleet.

This role acts as a central coordination point between planners, drivers, customers, and depots, helping to maintain smooth, safe, and cost-effective operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Transport Operations

  • Support daily planning and execution of transport schedules
  • Monitor vehicle movements and respond to operational issues
  • Assist with route optimisation and resource utilisation
  • Manage short-notice changes, delays, and re-planning

Driver & Fleet Support

  • Act as a point of contact for drivers during operations
  • Support compliance with drivers' hours, working time, and RSA regulations
  • Liaise with workshop and fleet teams regarding vehicle availability
  • Record defects, incidents, and operational issues

Customer & Stakeholder Liaison

  • Communicate with customers regarding collections, deliveries, and service issues
  • Liaise with depots, warehouses, and third-party hauliers
  • Support service level delivery and customer satisfaction

Systems & Administration

  • Update Transport Management Systems (TMS) accurately
  • Track KPIs such as on-time delivery and utilisation
  • Maintain operational records and documentation
  • Support POD, invoicing, and query resolution

Compliance, Safety & Quality

  • Support compliance with road transport, health & safety, and company policies
  • Assist with audits, investigations, and incident reporting
  • Promote a strong safety and compliance culture

Knowledge, skills and experience required

Essential

  • Experience in a transport or logistics operations role
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Irish and EU transport regulations
  • Experience with TMS or fleet management systems
  • Background in haulage, logistics, or distribution
