Role Summary
As a Sr. Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for leading cost control and cost engineering functions across the project lifecycle. You will ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting, while supporting strategic decision-making and maintaining alignment with project goals and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cost estimation, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
- Monitor and control project costs to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Develop and maintain financial reporting systems and dashboards.
- Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with procurement, contracts, and engineering teams to ensure cost efficiency.
- Prepare detailed cost reports and present findings to senior management.
- Support planning and scheduling functions with cost-related insights.
- Supervise and mentor cost engineering personnel.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in cost management practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Business, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in cost control, including senior-level roles on large-scale projects.
- Proven expertise in cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting, and cost analysis in both field and office settings.
- Strong statistical knowledge, including sampling distributions, probability, and hypothesis testing.
- Experience in personnel administration and training of technical and non-technical staff.
- Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize, and deliver cost engineering and estimating products.
- Skilled in planning and scheduling with deep knowledge of engineering design and construction practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering, procurement, and contracts.
