The Advanced Application Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of the engineering outcomes from initial design through to final certification in accordance with all contracted documents and referenced standards. You will have responsibility over a team of local and remote engineers contributing design across several parallel work fronts, ensuring there is a consistency to the approved design model used for each deployment. This role is reporting to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of control system principles and design.
  • Be highly skilled in translating customer requirements into clear definition of scope.
  • Assessment of customer site for installation requirements and installation design.
  • Sales assistance, involving innovative use of latest technology in establishing system design, and providing project estimates for works that fall outside our contract.
  • Prepare submittals per engineering standards, ensuring commitment dates are met.
  • Support the project controls team with planning / scheduling of project execution including attendance to relevant design meetings.
  • Develop and test software, deliver commissioning packages, and support field start-up activities.
  • Provide directions to project teams, manage consultants, and support field commissioning staff with expert guidance.
  • Ensure defect-free delivery through Quality Assurance, and maintain compliance with client, legislative, and engineering standards.
  • Apply OH&S principles, participate in safety audits, and contribute to safe and effective design solutions.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve cohesive project outcomes and share technical knowledge.

Requirements

  • Degree qualifications in engineering or related discipline from a university or equivalent. (Electrical Engineering. Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics).
  • At least 10 years of experience in control system projects (preference in Security. Critical Control Systems. Integrated Systems) with extensive on-site knowledge.
  • Proficient in intermediate to advanced computer skills. with advantageous knowledge of networking; storage and database technologies.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Familiar with current trends in IT and technology relevant to engineering and automation.
  • Experienced in managing and working with complex control and automation systems.
  • Proven track record in a project engineering capacity involved in the delivery of control system projects.
  • Preferred strong technical foundation in building automation systems with particular emphasis on HVAC controls; lighting management and energy optimization technologies.
  • Understanding of communication protocols such as BACnet; Modbus; and TCP/IP networking is essential for successful system integration and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics. mechanical drawings and system architecture diagrams is required.
