The Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager is a key role within the Finance and Accounting Department, responsible for overseeing the General Accounting and Transactions Team. This position necessitates close collaboration with various cross-functional teams, including the Canadian team and other internal stakeholders, to ensure smooth operations, compliance with financial regulations, and efficient reporting processes.

The primary function of this role is to lead and manage the General Accounting team of 6 entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strict compliance with company policies and regulations. By enhancing reporting efficiency and fortifying financial controls, this position plays a vital role in driving the organizations financial performance and advancing its strategic objectives.


  • Supervise the general accounting and transactions team by organizing workflow and delegating tasks, ensuring productivity and compliance with company policies.
  • Builds and develops a high-performing team by attracting and selecting qualified candidates, implementing comprehensive onboarding and training programs, fostering professional development opportunities, and promoting an inclusive and supportive work environment.
  • Evaluates team performance by regularly assessing the performance of accounting staff, delivering constructive feedback, and implementing initiatives to enhance overall team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manages financial operations by ensuring timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end closing processes, maintaining precise financial records through meticulous preparation and review, and verifying the integrity of financial data by reconciling bank transactions.
  • Conducts financial reporting and ensures compliance by meticulously reviewing financial data for accuracy, supporting internal and external audits with relevant documentation, and ensuring adherence to all applicable financial regulations.
  • Facilitates effective stakeholder communication by proactively collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to provide insightful financial analysis and maintain transparency regarding project timelines and deliverables.
  • Implements continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and leading initiatives aimed at optimizing accounting procedures, thereby increasing overall operational efficiency.
  • Supports strategic decision-making by preparing and submitting regular and ad hoc financial reports and analyses that provide valuable insights, enabling management to make informed and strategic decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or pursuit of financial certifications is desirable
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAGE, Oracle) and comprehensive understanding of the full accounting cycle.
  • Strong skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, coupled with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact effectively across all levels of management.

Work Arrangement

  • Hybrid work set up 
  • Work Schedule: 8AM EDT weekends off (9PM to 6AM)
