LEAD WITH PURPOSE, DRIVE ACCOUNTING EXCELLENCE!
As the Head of Accounting Operations, you will lead our accounting operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of core accounting processes across multiple entities.
In this role, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Revenue Accounting, Treasury, and operational General Ledger activities, while serving as a key link between the Shared Services team and Group Finance / Headquarters.
You'll play a critical role in strengthening accounting operations, driving process standardization, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring financial processes consistently meet Group policies, reporting timelines, and applicable accounting requirements.
HERE'S HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Leading Accounting Operations
- Lead and oversee the Group's shared accounting operations across multiple entities, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of core accounting processes.
- Provide leadership and direction across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Revenue Accounting, Treasury, and operational General Ledger functions.
- Ensure accounting activities are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, internal controls, and reporting deadlines.
- Monitor operational performance and ensure service delivery meets agreed standards and expectations.
- Provide guidance and support to accounting teams in resolving complex operational and accounting issues.
Driving Financial Accuracy & Operational Excellence
- Oversee key accounting processes, including reconciliations, transaction processing, month-end close activities, and operational General Ledger requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of accounting records and financial data.
- Establish and monitor appropriate controls across shared accounting processes to minimize financial and operational risks.
- Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and control weaknesses and implement improvements to strengthen accounting operations.
- Drive standardization of accounting processes across entities while ensuring alignment with Group requirements.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence within the Shared Services function.
Managing Month-End Close & Accounting Controls
- Lead and oversee accounting operations supporting the month-end and period-end close process.
- Ensure timely completion of reconciliations, journal entries, account reviews, and other operational close activities.
- Monitor outstanding items, reconciling differences, and exceptions to ensure timely resolution.
- Strengthen accounting controls and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Work closely with Finance and other stakeholders to address accounting issues and maintain the integrity of financial information.
Partnering with Group Finance & Headquarters
- Act as the key liaison between the Shared Services accounting operations team and Group Finance / Headquarters.
- Collaborate with Finance leadership and stakeholders across entities to ensure consistent application of accounting processes and policies.
- Provide operational updates, performance insights, issue escalation, and recommendations to senior Finance leadership.
- Support Group-wide finance initiatives, system implementations, process changes, and operational transformation projects.
- Ensure shared accounting operations remain aligned with the Group's strategic objectives and financial requirements.
Strengthening Processes, Systems & Standardization
- Lead initiatives to improve, standardize, and streamline accounting processes across multiple entities.
- Evaluate existing workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and service delivery.
- Leverage ERP systems, Excel, and other finance technologies to improve accounting operations and reporting.
- Support the implementation and enhancement of finance systems, controls, and standardized operating procedures.
- Establish clear processes, responsibilities, and performance expectations across the Shared Services accounting function.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in accounting operations.
- At least 3 years of experience managing accounting teams, preferably with responsibility for multiple teams or accounting functions.
- At least 3 years of relevant auditing experience.
- Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or ACA is highly desirable.
- Strong experience managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and month-end close processes.
- Experience working in a multi-entity, shared services, or international environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting processes, reconciliations, internal controls, and financial operations.
- Proven experience in process improvement, standardization, and operational transformation.
- Strong ERP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong leadership, people management, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work across functions and entities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, accuracy, and attention to detail.
