Job Title: FITTER – FTR

Reports To:
MSUPV / MSUPFD depending on work

Background:
To carry out machinery repairs, maintenance and other technical and safety work as required by MSUPV or MSUPV including maintenance and repair of FPSO Main-and/or CalM Buoy Export systems. Familiar with PTW system.

Authority:
Delegated authority by the OIM to execute his responsibilities.

Immediate Subordinates:
AFTR, AB, OS, 3rd Contractor

 RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Read P&IDs and other drawings to determine the best approach to completing a welding job
2. Operating hand tools and equipment for all repair work
3. To execute assigned tasks in conformance with safe work procedures in accordance with instructions given by the supervisor
4. To ensure that work such as entry into enclosed spaces, hot work is not undertaken without permission
5. To keep all his tools, workshop equipment, stores etc. in good order and to maintain stock records and advises on stock orders as required by MSUPV or MSUPFD
6. Be familiar with permit to work systems

SUPERVISORY EFFECTIVENESS
  1. Ensure that you develop and practice effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and subcontractors.
  2. Establish the scope of work clearly (briefings, toolbox talks, presentations).
  3. Plan and effectively control personnel, time, materials, transport, IT, and parts. Dont waste equipment, spare PPE or time.
  4. Make sure you communicate clearly and verify that personnel do understand your instructions.
3) MONITOR AND MAINTAIN POLLUTION CONTROL MEASURES
  1. Identify and stop (if safe to do so) any unplanned discharges (water, oil, gas, chemicals, etc.) where possible, and report immediately according to policy, procedure, and regulations.
  2. Use the correct PPE to deal with unplanned discharges or leaks using company procedures.
  3. Only dispose of unused broken parts or other materials according to the correct procedure.
  4. Enforce all environmental protection and pollution control procedures with subordinates and subcontractors described in WMS.
4) EMERGENCY RESPONSE 
  1. Demonstrate competence during Emergency Response Drills and training exercises.
  2. Carry out Emergency Response role.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Fitter and required to have certifications to show that competence in the field.
  • Proven experience and/or qualification on recognised equipment.
  • Good knowledge of Mechanical Isolation Standards (Knowledge of Permit to Work and Risk Assessment an advantage).
  • Experience and knowledge of hydrocarbon processing systems, mechanical systems, utilities.
  • Experience in Chromatography, the storage and environmental management systems.

  • Verified awareness of safety issues. Careful and conscientious.
Leadership
  • Good levels of written and spoken communication. Positive and assertive where safety is concerned.
  • Understands the need for planning and control of resources.
