What we are looking for / tasks associated with the position:
We are seeking a Data Governance and Azure Databricks Specialist with expertise in modern data architectures and analytical technologies to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in implementing and managing data governance frameworks, advanced knowledge of Azure Databricks (including Unity Catalog), and familiarity with machine learning models and cloud platforms.
The role involves designing and maintaining data models, ensuring compliance with governance and security standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decisions. Responsibilities include managing data access and permissions, configuring and administering Databricks environments, and aligning data strategies with business goals.

Must have:
- Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Engineering or similar
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and with global teams
- Ability for critical analysis and focused on problem solving
- Commitment to quality of deliveries
- English
- Updated knowledge of databases and analytical technologies, including datalake/lakehouse architectures and NoSQL storage
- Experience in Cloud Platforms (one or more: AWS, Google, Azure)
- Knowledge of data governance and data security practices
- Knowledge of Machine Learning, algorithms and statistical models (such as classification, time series analysis, regression, )

Nice to have:
- Knowledge of the Energy & Utilities market and GDPR
- Knowledge of Agile methodology, JIRA and Confluence tools

Technical Expertise:
1. Azure Databricks Proficiency
o Comprehensive knowledge of Azure Databricks, including cluster setup, notebooks, jobs, and Spark-based ETL pipelines.
o Expertise in Unity Catalog: managing catalog objects, schemas, and permissions to enforce robust data governance policies.
2. Data Governance and Security
o Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, policies, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR).
o Proficiency in security best practices, including encryption, access controls, and data lineage tracking.
3. Cloud Platform Experience
o Hands-on experience with one or more cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, focusing on scalable data storage and processing solutions.
4. Data Modeling and Analysis
o Ability to model business requirements into normalized, denormalized, star, or advanced data models (e.g., columnar, graph, geographic, time series, document).
o Strong analytical background with expertise in machine learning, including algorithms for classification, time series analysis, and regression.

o Proven experience in managing Unity Catalog metastore, configuring data access and permissions, and ensuring alignment with access modes.
2. Workspace Administration
o Expertise in managing Databricks workspace roles, permissions, and configurations to enable seamless collaboration.

Collaboration and Communication:
1. Cross-Team Collaboration
o Exceptional communication skills to engage with data engineers, scientists, and stakeholders.
o Ability to document and standardize processes, best practices, and governance guidelines.
