Work with a bleeding edge financial services firm that is deploying Elastic, ECE, Kafka, MLOps, Anthos and advanced analytics for one of the largest markets in the U.S.

Cloud Engineer

Applicant will be responsible for developing automation for containerized application backing service for applications running on Google Kf. These backing services include Redis, RabbitMQ, NFS, Dataflow, and others.

What does a day in the life of Cloud Engineer look like?

You will spend time reading documentation on the internals of the technologies like Kafka or Spring Cloud, streams or rabbit. You will write requirements or descriptions of workflows explaining how to implement them in Java or Python. You will need an understanding of streaming technologies and cloud technologies streaming technologies like case streams Apache beam, Flink or AirFlow.

One example of a recent project was to do a proof of concept for how to use reactive streams in Java. This project required a deep understanding of how spring works, how reactive programming works and how Kafka works.

You will need a deep understanding of computer science concepts and enterprise software concepts like: deployment CI CD, Jenkins, testing, a deep understanding of how Java works, how to use gradle and maven. In addition, Computer Science concepts like OOP, Functional Programming (and/or Reactive Programming), basic caching (Redis), Linux, Docker, basic security (SSL, Oauth2), SQL, basic Relational and NoSql Databases.

Skills Required:

Expert Kubernetes experience required, GKE experience preferred (design and configure Kubernetes pods running multiple interconnected services, resource limits, TLS configuration, experience with Istio ingress gateway)

Java (expert),

Kafka (proficient)

Helm (expert-level experience)

Expert GCP knowledge, including compute, networking, and security (GCP instance types, service accounts, service keys, GCP cli usage, labeling, load balancing, firewalls)

Additional Skills Preferred:

Google Kf

Anthos Service Mesh

Anthos Ingress/Egress Gateways

Anthos Config Management

Terraform

Python/Bash Scripting

Knowledge of at least one:

Redis

RabbitMQ

NFS
